Track of the Week 3- 'Robot Man' by OMD
Of course, as it is unofficial 'Punishment of Luxury' week on my blog, the track of the week this week certainly had to be a song from the album.
Instead of going for the title track, first single 'Isotype', or even fan favourite 'Ghost Star', however, I have chosen 'Robot Man'- a track from the album that was initially chosen as the first single, but ended up being left as an album track after too few radio stations deemed it suitable for regular play.
Personally, it's one of my favourite tracks on the album (just beaten by the beautiful 'One More Time') that showcases everything OMD are about- thought-provoking lyrics coupled with a mean electronic drum beat, finished with a mischievous sense of unpredictability.
It's undoubtedly an OMD classic, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is hoping it will be one of the tracks from the album that the band play on their tour later this year!
